U17
PARENT COACHES ARE REQUIRED FOR THIS AGE GROUP, IF WE DO NOT HAVE PARENTS WHO STEP UP THIS AGE GROUP WILL NO BE RUN THIS SPRING.
This co-ed league is tailored for players who seek a blend of enjoyment and competitiveness. To participate, players must have a minimum of two years of prior football experience. Many of our U17 athletes are active in our tackle football league and utilize flag football to maintain their physical conditioning while enhancing their passing, catching, teamwork, and overall gameplay skills. These players already possess a solid foundation in the game and are focused on refining their abilities.
The first week of the season will include light practice sessions, team formation, skill assessments, and getting to know teammates. Following this introductory period, the remainder of the season will be dedicated entirely to gameplay. Each team will receive a playbook, but teams are encouraged to develop their own if they prefer. A referee will be present to oversee the games, enforce penalties, and ensure safe playing conditions.
While this division is competitive, R.D.M.F. places player safety as the top priority, and these values will be upheld throughout the season. Similar to U10 and U12 groups, players have the opportunity to move up a division based on their skill level and/or size. Coaches will communicate across divisions to allow younger children, under 13, the chance to participate. Consent from both parents and players will be secured before any advancement to guarantee everyone is comfortable with the changes. This league can accommodate a maximum of 48 players, with 12 players assigned to each team.
